Mavs Beat the Sixers, Getting Their 7th Straight Win

The Mavs beat the Sixers 101-93, cruising to their 7th straight win and finishing up their 3-game road trip 3-0. The Mavs have now won 17 of their last 18 games.

In the first quarter, both teams went back and forth with the lead. The Mavs' didn't start the game off so well offensively as they were shooting 30% from the field and 0% from beyond the arch midway through the first; they ended the first with an improved 48.3% from the field and 20% from the 3-point line. Dirk and Peja, who are both usually excellent shooters, both ended the quarter just 2-5, and Tyson missed two unusual alley-oop's.

By the start of the second quarter, 11 of the Mavs' 15 baskets were in the paint. Towards the end of the second, there has been 18 lead changes with both teams shooting just above 50%. Jason Terry had a remarkable quarter, hitting three 3-pointers and racking up 13 points. By the end, the Sixers' shooting percentage diminished over 10% and the Mavs took the lead at the half 51-41.

Tyson Chandler landed wrong on his ankle towards the end of the second quarter, and left the game for the Mavs' locker room. We were notified during half time that he would not return to the game due to his sprained ankle.

Kidd gave the Mavs a 10 point lead, 54-44, to start the half. JET soared the Mavs into the fourth with a 79-77 lead; 11 of his 26 points came from the third quarter.

Midway through the fourth, both teams struggled with missed free throws and turnovers. The Mavs' had at least 15 turnovers at this point and only hit half their free throws while the Sixers had 12 turnovers. JET continued to make his shots, while Kidd added a nice 3-pointer and some helpful free throws. The Mavs held onto the lead and got the win over Philli, 101-93.

The Mavs' couldn't have done it without Jason Terry, who had a season high 30 points. Dirk was also helpful with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Kidd had a triple-double with 13 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. Marion racked up a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

For the Sixers, five of their players scored in double-figures. Meeks led the team with 16 points, Iguodala had 15, Holiday had 14, Young had 13 and Brand had 12.

Next, the Mavs travel back to Dallas and face the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
