Mavs Fall Short to Denver, Ending Their 10 Game Streak

The Mavericks came into this game with an 11 game winning streak on the line, but left with a very upsetting 121-120 loss.

In the first quarter, Denver went scoreless for the first three minutes but went on a scoring frenzy, scoring 33 points in the final nine minutes. The Mavs' defense was in trouble. This put Denver up 33-19 at the end of the first quarter.

The Mavs rallied back hard and were only down 59-58 at the half.

They took the lead from there and headed into the fourth quarter up by just a few points but managed to gain a 13 point lead. This lead diminished quickly and this game could have gone either way.

Melo fouled out of the game with less than 35 seconds left and sent Dirk to the line. The game was at stake as it was tied at 119. He only made 1 of 2 free-throws which gave Denver a chance to win the game. Afflalo hit the buzzer beater to win the game 121-120, as the Mavs 10 game winning streak came to an end.

The Mavericks' bench keeps getting better and better. They had a combined 118 points in the previous two games, and had a high 72 against the Nuggets. Their three stars on the bench were Terry with 25 points, Marion with 19 points and Barea with 17. Chandler had another double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Dirk finished with 16 and Kidd had 10.

On the Nuggets, Melo led the team with 42 points. Billups wasn't far behind with 30 points. Afflalo hit the game winner and finished with 24 points.

Next the Mavs will travel back to Texas to face the Rockets in Houston.
