Mavs Rock the Garden, Getting Their 6th Straight Win

The Mavericks clearly weren't playing the same Knicks they played in the Garden last year, but the outcome wasn't much different. The Mavs pulled away with a 113-97 win, making it their 6th straight win and their 5th straight at the garden.

The Mavs had an outstanding start, and didn't seem to miss a single basket. The Knicks played well in the first half as well, staying behind the Mavs for the most part. Before the half, the Knicks were up by about 10 at one point, but didn't keep the lead for long.

Amare scored 21 points in the first half but went scoreless in the second which is very unusual for him.

At the half, the Mavs were only up 56-52, but outscored the Knicks 26-6 to start the second half. They also outscored them 30-21 in the third quarter to take an 86-73 lead.

The Mavs' defense is definitely what won them the game. They finally made that adjustment without Caron. Their defense is finally starting to look up since they've been battling with injuries in November.

The Mavericks also dominated on the boards as well, out-rebounding the Knicks 54-34. They were also 44 percent from beyond the arc as they went 11 for 25. The Knicks were only 26 percent from deep making 6 of 23.

Every single Mav who was on the court scored atleast 1 point. Dirk led the team with 29 points, becoming the 24th player to surpass the 22,000-point mark; he also had 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Barea scored 22 off the bench and was 3 of 4 from the 3-point line. Chandler had yet another double-double, scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Stevenson had 13 points and was 3 of 6 from beyond the arc. Terry acquired 12 points off the bench. Kidd didn't have such a great night offensively as he was 2 of 10 from the field and 2 of 7 from beyond the arc, totaling 6 points.

The Knicks didn't bring their best offense to this game. Amare scored 21 in the first half but missed all 5 of his shots in the second. Starting guards Felton and Fields were a combined 6 of 25 from the field. Gallinari led the team with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Douglas came off the bench scoring 22 points.

The Mavericks have now won 6 straight games, tied with the Bulls for the longest active streak. They are also now only a half a game behind the Lakers in 2nd seed.

Carlisle on the win: "We're gradually building momentum here. And I'm not getting too carried away because there's a long way to go. Games are gonna get harder before they get easier, but we're making stride. And that's what it's about."

Next, the Mavs will take their 6 game winning streak to TD Garden to face the Celtics.

Peja Stojakovic is looking to play sometime next week. They are not 100% sure of when he will start but it's looking up as he's been practicing and working out and doing well.
