Raptors Hire Mavs' Assistant Coach, Dwane Casey, as Head Coach

Just nine days after helping the Mavericks win their championship, assistant coach Dwane Casey was hired by the Toronto Raptors as their head coach.

Aside from being assistant coach of Dallas, Casey was the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves from 05-07.

With the Raptors' missing the playoffs for three straight seasons and only making it past the first round once, in 00-01, Casey plans to build their team and especially improve on defense:
"Defensively, I'm going to be a hands-on control freak, so to speak," he said. "Offensively, I'm going to trust and give them freedom."
Toronto has the fifth pick in the NBA draft on Thursday and plan to build their team from there.
